I really like the premise and the fact that it worked well within the storyline. Ash and Piper were a hoot to read and watch there story build to the climax it was. ASH was I thought not the Beast (even though he appeared to have characteristics that may have seemed beastly) everyone thought he was as he was a likable and trustworthy family guy in my book. Especially with his sister and her daughter. I liked that he was not over blown or pompous in any way and was written as being down to earth. Piper well she was a different breed for me she wasn't like timid and shy when she meets him she was just being herself but I know she HAD that OH WOW moment. It was caught in their banter between each other and it felt really beautiful and natural. I loved this story and I know you will like this too.
Although I’m beyond over the billionaire trope, I really enjoyed the premise of this book. Hot rich guy “rescues†a down-on-her-luck girl after he meets her at the grocery store and later a charity function where she's working as a caterer. Piper dreams of opening her own restaurant one day, but right now she needs to get out of a bad living situation, so becoming Ash's personal chef, with room and board included, seems like the right move.I really liked these characters. They were well developed and their growth throughout the relationship rang true. What I didn’t like was paragraph after paragraph of self-introspection that was then repeated. It added nothing for me and detained the story's progression more than once. My other issue is confusion over the book title. It seems based on Ash being a frat brother, but is that still the main focus years after attending college? I’m guessing that Ash's investors were his frat brothers but it wasn’t made clear in this book. Since this is the only book I’ve read in this series I may be missing some critical backstory.If you’ve read the other books in this series, I’m sure you’ll love Ash and Piper’s story. And if you don’t mind immoderate character introspection and supposition, then you’ll love these endearing characters and their compelling storyline.*I reviewed an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.
Hazel Kelly has another winner on her hands! I absolutely LOVED this book! Ash and Piper were a great pair. I loved that they met over a zucchini in the market and then bumped into each other again over food. Ash is high powered man who knows what he wants and what he likes. He is pretty closed off and not very trusting, but he sees something in Piper which is why he offers her a job to come cook for him. Piper is struggling to make it day to day. Her dreams of being a chef seem so far away and she's just trying to keep her head above water. Then Ash comes along and offers her an opportunity to do what she loves and rebuild her life. They both have baggage and I like how it held them back for so long and only now are they starting to find a way out from under it. I love the Beauty and the Beast analogy--Ash is very Beast like...he has his rules and he gets cranky. Piper is like a breath of fresh air. She takes pleasure in such small things like going to a fancy grocery story and taking baths. Her presence in his life makes him start to change, to open up. Their chemistry was hot and their banter was really funny at times. You can always count on Hazel Kelly to write witty banter. As much as Ash swooped in and gave Piper an opportunity to change her life, I felt like she saved him too. She rescued him right back. That's the kind of happy ending we all should strive for. If you're a fan of the Beta Brothers series, you need to add this to your collection. It's a fantastic read for the summer and it will make you smile while you get a tan.
This book could not have come along at a better time -- a beach chair, some sunshine, an umbrella (possibly in a beverage -- and off to a romantic romp! A very likable story from the super market meeting between our aspiring chef and an emotionally stunted bachelor through the twists and turns of their relationship. Just as in life, we are all trying to find meaning and love. We root for Piper and Ash to find both with each other. The dialogue is especially well done and the private thoughts of each as the story develops fill in the backstories for both. There is some steamy sexual content -- not a bad thing! I haven't read other books in this series, however, will consider doing so now that this one is in the "finished" basket. Kudos to the author for crafting such an enjoyable read. Thank you!!
I love all of Hazel Kelly’s books, and with each new one out I fall in love with them all over again. I Can never put them down. The story line for this book is amazing, Piper and Ash are an amazing couple and their story is inspiring.
